Lord Baladeva
Lord Baladeva is Krishna's elder brother. In related traditions He is also known as Balarama or Balabhadra. In the Jagannatha tradition of Puri, the name Balabhadra is commonly used.

In Gaudiya Vaishnava theology, Lord Baladeva is the first expansion of Krishna and the original source of spiritual strength. His name is connected with bala, strength, but this strength is not merely physical. It is the strength to serve Krishna, remain steady in spiritual life, and support the Lord's mission.
Lord Baladeva is worshiped with Lord Jagannatha and Subhadra Maharani. His presence reminds devotees that real spiritual life depends on service. He supports Krishna's pastimes, protects devotees, and gives the strength needed to continue devotional practice.
For a visitor, Lord Baladeva's worship can be understood very simply: spiritual life is not carried by sentiment alone. Devotion needs strength, steadiness, guidance, and service. Devotees pray to Lord Baladeva for the strength to serve Lord Jagannatha sincerely.
