Deity information
Lord Jagannath
TEST
Lord Jagannatha means "Lord of the universe." He is worshiped with deep love in Puri, Odisha, and in temples around the world. In the Gaudiya Vaishnava tradition followed by ISKCON, Lord Jagannatha is Krishna, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, appearing in a wonderfully merciful form.

The form of Lord Jagannatha is unlike many other Deity forms. His large round eyes, broad smile, and open presence communicate welcome and mercy. Devotees see in Him the Lord who looks upon everyone and invites everyone to take shelter in devotional service.
Lord Jagannatha is especially associated with Puri and the great Ratha Yatra festival. During Ratha Yatra, the Lord comes out from the temple and rides on a chariot, giving darshan to everyone. Srila Prabhupada brought Ratha Yatra to the modern world through ISKCON, making the festival a public celebration of the holy names, prasadam, and the mercy of Lord Jagannatha.
In Puri, Lord Jagannatha is worshiped with Lord Balabhadra, Devi Subhadra, and Sudarshana. At New Jagannath Puri, the website standard is Lord Jagannatha, Lord Baladeva, and Subhadra Maharani. This keeps the local presentation consistent while acknowledging the broader Puri terminology.
For devotees, Lord Jagannatha is not an abstract symbol. He is the worshipable Lord, Krishna Himself, accepting offerings, hearing prayers, receiving kirtana, and giving mercy through darshan. His worship invites the heart to become simple, grateful, and eager for service.
