Śrī Gaurāṅga, also known as Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu, appeared in Navadvīpa, Bengal, more than 500 years ago. With His golden complexion and compassionate heart, He taught that the simplest and most powerful way to awaken our love for the Supreme Lord is through the chanting of the holy names.
Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu spread the congregational chanting of the Hare Krishna mahā-mantra, bringing people together through saṅkīrtana, devotion and service.
His teachings emphasise humility, compassion and sincere devotion. He encouraged everyone, regardless of background, to chant the holy names and develop a loving relationship with Krishna.
