Ratha Yatra is the great festival of Lord Jagannatha, Lord Baladeva, and Subhadra Maharani. In Puri, Odisha, the presiding Deities of Sri Mandira come out from the temple and ride on large chariots, giving darshan to everyone. The festival is famous throughout India and has become known around the world through the preaching of Srila Prabhupada and ISKCON.

The word ratha means chariot, and yatra means journey. During the festival, Their Lordships travel in procession. Devotees sing the holy names, pull the chariots, offer prayers, distribute prasadam, and celebrate the mercy of Lord Jagannatha, who comes out to bless all people.

In the Gaudiya Vaishnava tradition, Ratha Yatra is also connected with Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu's deep devotion to Lord Jagannatha in Puri. Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu and His associates would participate in the festival with ecstatic chanting and dancing.

Srila Prabhupada introduced Ratha Yatra outside India through ISKCON, making it a public festival where anyone can hear kirtana, see Lord Jagannatha, honor prasadam, and take part in devotional service. ISKCON Ratha Yatra festivals around the world continue this mood of open mercy.

At New Jagannath Puri, Ratha Yatra content should include the local date, route, service opportunities, sponsorship options, prasadam arrangements, volunteer needs, parking, safety guidance, and approved festival images. These details should be added after the local festival plan is confirmed.
