Srila Prabhupada (1896-1977), born Abhay Charan De, was a Vedic scholar and the Founder-Acharya of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON), the Hare Krishna movement. 

At the age of 69, he travelled from India to New York in 1965 to spread the message of Krishna consciousness. He established over 100 ISKCON temples worldwide, authored numerous books, and introduced thousands to the teachings of devotional service to Krishna.
